Beneath the medina, a technical undertaking.
In the heart of the medina of Meknès, AHMA is carrying out the development and construction of the Parking souterrain Bab Rha (Bab Rha underground car park), awarded as a single package, on behalf of the Agence pour le Développement et la Réhabilitation de la ville de Fès. By providing parking capacity below ground, the project helps to decongest the approaches to the medina and to ease access to it, in the service of preserving an old centre of high heritage value.
Building below ground in contact with a historic fabric calls for proven excavation and retaining methods, strict phasing and constant attention to neighbouring structures. The teams are running every operation, from earthworks to the reinforced concrete structure and the waterproofing of the buried sections, with close monitoring of the stability of the existing buildings.
This project illustrates AHMA's position as a main contractor serving public contracting authorities. Since 1998, the company has worked on major public works across Morocco, and in Meknès it confirms its ability to run demanding technical operations for the benefit of the regions.
