Set in the Hay Nahda district of Mohammadia, the mosque was built on behalf of the Ministère des Habous et des Affaires Islamiques. The building is single-storey: its ochre arcades open beneath green tiled roofs, and a tall, square, fluted minaret gives it a presence in the neighbourhood.
The project draws on the vocabulary of Moroccan religious architecture: arcades, tiled roofs, a square fluted minaret. A place of worship calls for careful workmanship, and every trade had to be coordinated on site, from the structural works through to the finishes. The mosque has now been handed over.
