The headquarters of the province.
Built for the Province de Tinghir, the provincial headquarters brings the territorial administration and its departments together in a single complex. It gives the province a seat equal to its role: to receive the public, to bring elected representatives together and to house the daily work of the State's departments in the heart of the eastern High Atlas.
The architecture draws on the local vocabulary: earth-render façades punctuated by Amazigh motifs and blue stepped recesses, and a central portal in pale stone bearing the building's name in Arabic and in Tifinagh. Inside, the main hall, the council chamber with its band of carved mashrabiya and the wood-panelled executive offices called for an exacting standard of finish, trade by trade.
